I love spirited discussions! Now how about we talk about Brokeback.....just kidding.
Often times I'll get calls from people who want to pick my brain. Most of the time I'll take the time initially to talk with them but then politely refer them to the architects that I have used in the past. If someone is truly serious about this business then eventually they will have to shell out some money...if they are unwilling or can't afford $5000-10000 for a consultant then they should do what many of us did-work your way up and learn the business from the bottom floor..I started with an independent-Tom Goodman-then worked for SBC, followed by Hoyts befored buying a single. I agree with other opinions that if someone is unwilling to do the prep work they probably will never get their project off the ground.

again: I do not think it was rude, did not read it as rude. I think of it as straightforward and blunt. It beats the sounds of silence. I grew up in NYC so perhaps I don't take bristly as rude.

Bristly... I like that.

It's also amusing, how easy it is to get a group so totally off-topic, you have to go to the original post to see what this was all about. It's not exclusive to this place... but an interesting quirk to how these discussion boards work.

Now... let's talk politics!!!

I was in a German bar in NYC one time and these old guys started singing a WW2 German Army marching song and the bar tender banged a bat on the bar and said : "no politics!" Works for me.

Just a newbie chiming in. I have this idea for a theatre, and have been cruising your site for about 2 months. There is a lot of great info, and for the most part it is fairly easy to find.

At some point, I will have enough knowledge, and a plan to start picking brains, but I am not nearly close enough to it. Thanks for future help!
