You can purchase standards and recommended practices directly from the SMPTE:
http://www.smpte.org/smpte_store/standards/

Optimum screen curve and tilt is determined by ray tracing (angle of incidence = angle of reflection), from the projector to the screen surface to the center of the prime seating area.

SMPTE Recommended Practice RP95 gives the following formula, that works well for most situations:

Screen Radius = ((Projection Distance + Distance Between Screen and Audience Center) / 2)

So for a throw of 100 feet, with the center of the audience 60 feet from the screen, the radius of screen curvature should be (100+60)/2 = 80 feet.

Ok, Mr. Pytlak, let me try something...

A theoretical auditorium has an 80' screen maxed in scope, so it is 34'1" tall.

The throw would then be 136' as that is 4 times the screen height.

So RP95 would be 136+68 (that's half the throw) divided by 2 = 102...

Does that mean you'd have a screen at 102 degrees? How deep is that?

Also, what kind of gain (1.5, 2.0) would you need for that screen, using 7kw?

And, finally, the lens would be 71mm, so is that a 70mm lens?
