Thank you to everyone who has posted answers/opinions on this site. I've read through a good deal of the content and it's been very helpful. I have a question I was hoping someone could give me some direction on. I'm considering a single screen (maybe two screens) theatre, 200-250 seats, in the downtown area of a suburban city with 150,000 residents within 10 miles. There is one large multiplex (24 screens) serving this community now.

My question is this, is there a metric for how many square feet are needed for a theater of this size? I've seen the guidance on building height, but have not seen anything on square footage in relation to seat count.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Generally, to accommodate the same number of seats, stadium seating auditoriums are 25-30% larger compared to sloped floor auditoriums.
