TOPIC: BIG SCREEN in Historic Theatre

BIG SCREEN in Historic Theatre 04 Mar 2008 16:38 #29562

The move to a large screen, placed in front of the stage of a historic theatre, is that a good move? The screen will use a digital projection.

Typically we have placed the screen on top of the stage towards the front edge since the screen will be raised off of the floor anyway. This also allows the screen to be positioned further back from the front row which is a plus for smaller/tighter auditoriums.

When we moved in the screen covered the stage front. We moved it back on stage, still a very large screen and yes the front rows are certainly a better view now. This make the place look much more like it did and preserves its charm.

will the screen be permanent or is there an intent to "fly" the screen?

you'll need a speaker/subwoofie behind it

do you also intend to use the stage for live?

The screen will be removable, stage will be used for live performances. I also have a concern for the historic appearance remaining. Another note. We also have the Wurlitzer organ, so that is a concern. Originally, it was placed in front left of stage, in the orchestra area (no pit)same level as the chairs.

We also have a theatre organ. We fly our screen so that we can use our stage.
