Does anyone use these new snack holders that fit in the seats' cup holders? I'm wondering if people like them, and do they get in the way of knees? It seems like it would be difficult to get up without taking the whole tray out of the cup holder. And how do you keep people from taking them out of the theater?

I used them for 10 years at my last theatre.

Mixed bag- theft of the trays wasn't an issue as very few disappeared. Lots of customers just used them to take their order to the auditorium and then came back out and placed them on tables we had in the promenade for just that purpose. The biggest problem was the customer not pushing the tray FIRMLY down into the cupholder. When they let go, the tray crashed to the floor creating a big mess.

In my new place, I intend to use them again but with a deep well tray as opposed to the flat surface tray I had. I really believe customers appreciate the option and at about $3.50 a tray, it's a no brainer.

I have a few of the deep ones and haven't had any stolen. Usually they just take their concession items out to their family in them and bring the tray back.

We've used them for 5 years....Love 'em!! We have a cafe in our lobby and customers can take their meal with them into the theatre... Never had a theft problem and only one spill. Putting in our third screen now and will be ordering more soon.

last night a guy came out, obvously foraging for the masses, ordered 6 popcorns, 6 sodas, 6 candys: he had to have a tray. If not the cup holder variety any tray is a neccessity.

We've thought about offering trays for our customers, but we figured that we should try to "train" our customers to have enough people to carry all the concessions.

In my experience, customers don't like to be "trained", they expect to get what they want or need.

Having enough people to carry the food isn't always an option. For example, with a family of two adults and two children, one has to get the concessions while the other stays with the children.

For an order like that, an usher or security guy can help carry it back! It's cheaper than buying a bucketload of trays, and much more personal!
