Is there a national legal max on slope on the floor or is a matter of local codes?

If you need to take wheelchairs down the slope to the handicap seating areas, the slope is limited to 1:12, under ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). If wheelchairs are accomodated at the back only, the maximum slope can be increased to 1:8. This is consistent in all the American and Canadian Building Codes.
