I have come to the conclusion that the area the theatre is in makes a big difference in per caps--even though my theatres are within 90 miles of each other, and we use same size, pricing scheme, ect. it varies--in my least "hungry" one, I can't seem to get more than $2.25--in my "hungriest" one I hover just over $3.60, the 2 closest theatres, in same county, both average $2.75+. I do have a bit different ticket prices in each town--but highest per cap theatre is also highest priced tickets, so can't even use that as a reason.

Mike,
How in the world could you not offer soda in the cans at your new theatre? Just think of the variety lost.

Congrats on a high per cap and keep up the good work

by the way: we offer a good assortment of cans as well as the tap and a can of 12 oz is 1.50 and we're still selling a bunch of them as well as plenty of tap.

Burney,

Your "per caps" seem phenomenal for a single screen. I was curious about your pricing? What do you charge for popcorn, soda & candy.

Ialso checked out your website. Your remodel looks great. I noticed that you appear to be closed Monday thru Thursday. Is this during slow seasons or ? Thanks.

I'm curious BurneyFalls how your current pricing, offerings, per cap compare to 2002 figures?

I open my new 4 screen in two weeks and have been going back through the archives for ideas and reassurance on some decisions I've made.

Since 2002, I have raised most of my prices, reduced a cup size (soda that is)
, and changed the names of my soda sizes. I still offer one free refill on large popcorns and large sodas and sell a lot more large sodas as a result. My average per cap for this quarter is $3.74.

Depends on location.

I have an 8-screen w/ arcade that does about $2.00/head.

I have a 13-screen w/ arcade that does about $2.25/head.

I have a 5-screen in a small town that does about $2.75/head.

I have a 5-screen that runs Spanish subtitled/dubbed product that runs about $3.75/head. Some days over $5.00.

my 2010 concession per cap is $3.36

I think our adding hot dogs and other sandwiches has helped even though they aren't high margin items like popcorn and soda. I think they drive those items. We also instituted half price refills on all sizes of pop and popcorn and we sell lots of those which helps.
