I know that it is a few years old but have you considered booking The Little Vampire - New Line - for kids.

Hey ttroidl,

$81,698 in 12 weeks for Whale Rider is not to be sneezed at. We are in a market that supports art film and we do gross., as $81,698 in 12 weeks attests to. It opened well here and the word of mouth on it has been great. The art film business is the art of the incremental. You have to keep plugging away at it. We have increased our attendance every year, and are on pace with last year. Considering that we had Big Fat Greek Wedding last year (far and away the biggest hit we ever had), I think the fact that we are keeping pace is remarkable.

I guess thats not bad!

Most people we had were not impressed with it though, got people coming out looking for coffee to stay awake and comments like "I'm trying to get into it, but it's so slow" etc...

I thought the last 20 mins of it was ok, and the story was ok, just dragged out a bit too long to keep most people interested.

Definatly no Greek Wedding though!

Just finished a four day run of WHALE RIDER, where my per cap was $2.84. My average per cap for the quarter was $3.13, including WHALE RIDER. So, my very, very limited non-scientific study concludes per caps go down with independent film.
