our downtown historic one screen is considering adding beer and wine to concessions. Please share your experience, and some numbers.

we have beer and wine and we got some initial resistance but it has died off. It is not a good seller but we think it brings some people out that otherwise wouldn't come out.

We have not done it to date but are very much considering it. A theatre has to do what a theatre has to do. In Maine they now sell liquor in drug stores, supermarkets and conven stores. Anyone who complains has a right to but has not been breathing in the real world. Chuck E. Cheese "where a kid can be a kid" sells beer and wine. The biggest problem is lisc requirements. Mike

Well my friend, I don't have any numbers but an opinion (and the guys here will tell you I have plenty of those). To serve booze in a single-screener is to remove it from the family theatre category and turn it into an "adults only" facility. Most towns have more than enough bars and taverns for those who want to drink. If you have to serve booze to get people into your theatre then I would question the quality of films you are offering.

My single screen serves beer and we serve the family market just fine, thank you very much.

Some people just want a beer to relax after work and we offer that. It's not a big seller by any means, but is does help to a small degree. Do it if you want, and don't do it if you don't.

But I don't "have to serve booze" in order to get people to come.
