WIZ BANG POPPER DELUXE MODEL FROM GOLD MEDAL 12 OZ /16 #2500.STAY AWAY FROM THIS IF YOU OWN A THEATER.We have always used the 2300 and it has worked great.The new models are cheap with these crappy thin metal turners inside.Kettle does not dump completly after each use ,popcorn burns every batch and the kettle is light as a feather.Volts are now 1710 not 2004 as listed.Junk for a bsns .These are no longer commercial models.

12 oz? that's kind of like a free popcorn at the bank model isn't it? We Have a 32 oz Gold Medal and it is incredible. I think you bought a cheapie rental thing. oops.

NO these are commecial model the theater has used for the last 11 years.They have change the guts and the kettle in the last few years ..(as i was told after i bought)I was told all GOLD MEDAL poppers now have the wire insides not the heavy duty paddles they once had....

I kind of agree with Mike.... the 12 oz. Wiz Bang poppers I've seen in the Gold Medal catalog tend to look like the "free popcorn at the bank" type of machine, at least that's my perception of them.

I have both a huge Gold Medal 32oz. 2011ENB "Pop-O-Gold" floor model with the neon header, and a small 12 oz. machine. The 32oz. machine is the main popper inside the concessions building, while the 12oz. machine is out in the concessions trailer. My concessions girls absolutely refuse to use the 12oz. machine. They would rather pop 3-4 batches of corn in the big machine and carry it out to the trailer and put it in the warmer, as opposed to messing with the 12oz. model.

The 32oz. machine is so simple - buzzer goes off, push the oil button, load the corn and flavacol - buzzer goes off - dump. The 12 oz. machine is all manual, never pops the corn all the way thru, and it's a pain to clean up.

I couldn't imagine using a machine any smaller than our 32oz. In the summer it litterally runs for 3-4 hours straight... and we're a drive-in.

This theater has used the 12 oz poppers for 11 years (2 of them) Last month we sold $22,000.oo in popcorn of those machines.We use the 12 oz kits.

I've got a 14oz Gold Medal Citation that I've had for over 12 years.
When we are busy I can barely keep up.
I can't imagine using an even smaller 12oz.
I wish I had room in my stand for a larger one.

The main problem I have is the kettle elements going out.
But they are not all that expensive.
I am also lucky in that the Gold Medal plant is only about 1 1/2 hr away from here and I can go get the exact part I need same day and do the work myself.

I should correct myself we had a 14 oz popper that we used the 12 oZ kits in.The new popper is now 12 oz no longer the 14 oz kettle.They have change the specs on the old model....

I don't know of any commercial theatre up here using a kettle smaller than 16oz
anyway the only reel popper is the manleys

We have 2 GM poppers. A 16 oz. that we seldom use and a 32 oz (that also cooks 16 oz well) that we really like. Bought both used and paid pretty much the same amount (ebay). So I guess agree that the smaller ones do not seem to be as good.

That might explain at least part of the problem. Putting a 12-ounce charge in a 14 ounce kettle wouldn't load it down as much as you are now. You mentioned a voltage difference that doesn't make sense. Did you mean wattage? At that level, a 300 watt difference would be significant.
