At our new theatre we installed self serve soda. We sell 'em the cups. I was very nervous about the mess, etc. We have now had about a billion people pile in, help themslves, and it is working like a charm. My wife; the Queen of Ix-nay de Nouveau Ideassie is really jealous. We have not sctually sold any yet but it looks very cool. It's working here. And now with all the Sub-Way, KFC, McD, etc. etc. doing it everyone is very well traned and knows how to do it.

Mike, I've often wondered about self-serve. Seems like a great time-saver. How have you oriented it to eliminate theft/refills? Some places you fill yourself, then pay. Others you're sent off with the cup. What have you done, how accessible is it to "refillers".

Once you switch to self-serve you will never switch back, we try to do as much self-serve as possible, the more people help themselves, the fewer dollars we spend on staff.

We place signs on the machines, refill $.50, and locate the machines well within the view of the concession stand.

We discussed refills at ShowEast during the Bigscreen get together, LanceC had the best idea, free refills on Large only, increased sales of Large, rarely are they refilled.
