What % do you consider to be your concession net costs against the gross? Cost of goods sold (corn/soda/candy/etc) + supplies (napkins, bags, cups, etc.) = what % of your concession gross? Not including labor or overhead. Que pasa?

For items other than Popcorn & Soda we try to get at least 3 times cost for the item.

Some items it is impossible to charge 3 times our cost for the item. For instance, we sell cookies from a local fancy bakery. Our cost is about 90 cents per cookie. We tried to charge $2.50 but nobody would bite. So cookies go for $200 and we sell out every week. It is a total impulse buy. We have them idividually wrapped on a plate in front of the cash register. We sell Haagen Daz ice-cream bars for $3.00 and our cost is close to $1.50 each. But that is what we can get for the item.

On average, we budget 24% for Concession Cost of Goods Sold.

I am using 27% this year based on last year's (January) full count of inventory for tax return.

We also strive for 3 times rule but are having more and more difficulty with candy prices which keep going up.

Just had to throw a note in here related to candy costs going up--I just love the fact that the packages are getting smaller to i.e. skittles and starburst--almost feel ashamed getting the price we need for these smaller packages
