I've seen many theaters that do not vent any of the popper smoke at all. These type of theaters almost always have a greasy build up on everything in the lobby (and sometimes in the booth, too). Do any of you employ any venting of the popper such as hoods or exhaust fans?

I saw one theater that tapped into the lamphouse exhaust fan and after a couple of months, the inside of the lamphouse looked like a greasy, filthy mess. I'm surprised the bulb didn't blow up with all the grease on it!

The Colonial with an old now retired Manley and a new young buck of a Cretors Diplomat has not used any ventilation; just blow it out the top with a not too high ceiling over it. The grease hasn't built up but we're clean freaks. The Manley used to smoke and if I was going to do anything I was going to build/have built a box with air filters and add a small exhaust fan..run the air through that just to trap it. The new Cretors seems to have taken care of the prob.
