We don't give math quiz here--they would all flunk as not taught in school in my area. We do a 2 week math course of our own with the new hires--if they can't work with quarters by that time, they are gone. I wish the school systems in my area would work with businesses at least a little.

(but then if you ask a teacher who pays their paycheck, they usually say the school board!

I sometimes ask them if an item cost $4.75 and give them $5.75 what is my change. Then I ask what the change is if the item cost $6.25 and I give them 10.25 and if the item cost $7.35 and I give them 12.35.

I figure if they can't make simple change in their head we don't need them. I have never been so amazed as when they ask for a piece of paper and pencil for this task.
Quentin: Of course a woman is going to kill me. I wouldn't have it any other way!
