What is the typical savings for shipping hard drives vs. 35mm films from Technicolor?
Thanks
Lance

$5-$7 per movie. Not much overall.

Funny, Technicolor quoted me a shipping price for Hard Drives thats more than twice the price of the 35mm!

Haven't bothered to call them on it since I don't have Digital yet...

Yah... that caught me by surprise, too.

... except they're quoting a round-trip price, not each way, like it was with film.

I have started receiving some content including a few movie files over satellite. I haven't been billed for them yet but the contract suggests a savings of about $21 per title over and above the savings from film. Round trip via UPS for film was in the neighborhood of sixty to seventy-five dollars and with a satellite transmission of a movie it went all the way down to less then nineteen.

That being said, however, there are loads of added charges that more then eat this "savings" up. NOC charges, NOS fees, etc really take a bite don't they?

Yah... That's why we feel fortunate to have avoided the VPF stuff... too many additional fingers in the system, maintenance fees, noc charges, etc. For a drive-in, I'm not sure there would have been anything left, once the extra fees had been paid.
