Beginning of January I will have owned my theater for one year. To celebrate I would like to do a special promotion (nothing to fancy- that has to wait until I finished my renovations). I thought about free popcorn for every customer for a day. Kind of boring but sure bet to get a lot of people in. What do you guys think? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Here is something else you could do too. Maybe do something different each week.

Get another business involved too so it works as a bounce back promotion. You give away something for the other business to drive folks there and they give away something for you to drive folks to you.

I thought I give a little update. I did consider all your ideas (thank you !).

I used the buy one candy - get one free for the last 2 weeks of the year. Did wonders for my per cap.

I tried to set up something with some shops across the street , but they all were closed today.

Anyway, I ended up doing free popcorn, door prizes (T-shirts I had left over from promotions during the year and gift cards), as well as a movie poster raffle with proceeds going to charity. I promoted this via my website, facebook and an upgraded ad in the local newspaper.

Even though the numbers shrunk rapidly during the day we had an awesome day in total. About twice of what I would consider a good saturday.
