Who wants to share some basic financial calulations?
The chains (AMC/Cinemark/Carmike)for the first half of 2009 report the following:
Ticket Sales: 66-69% of revenues,
Concession Sales: 27-33% of revenues,
Other: 4%
Film Rental & advertising: 52-56% (as a % of ticket revenue)
Cost Of Concessions: 10-14% (as a % of concession revenue)
Rent: 12-13%
Other Operating (staffing/utitlites/etc): 21-26%
General &Administrative: 2-5%
Mine:
Ticket Sales 64% $5.13 per admission (we target families with young children as our #1 demo)
Concessions 36% $2.77 per admission
Film Rental + Advert: 55%
Cost of Concessions: 29%
Rent: 9%
Other: Since we (My wife & I) work the theater alot and have paid ourselves the bare min, this calculation is not helpful to others, I will try at some point to put a number on this. So not including staffing our other is 10.5% (utilities/film booking/film transport/etc.)
