Looks like the only thing left in our town will be Red Box, and NetFlix of course. We are thinking of renting classics on DVD from our lobby. What do you have to do to be able to rent out videos?

How many housedolds are in your market? Are redbox and Netflix and BB online the only options?

I own 4 video stores right now.

Our population is around 10,000 people. We only have 1 movie rental place in town and I heard word recently that they will be closing up shop soon, though I have not yet confirmed this to be fact. I hope they don't close but if they do there will be no other place to rent videos other than Red Box. We don't even have any little stores that rent a few videos. The grocery store used to, but now it is just DVDs for purchase. I just wonder what people will do when they want to watch an older flick, not a new release.

Older flicks are tough to rent. We started a video store connecting to our theater lobby and everybody is after the new ones. Once in awhile they ask for some old one, but it is never the same title twice. Can't make any money that way.

10,000 people is more than enough people to have a nice profitable store. I would love to be in that store operators shoes.

Unfortunately their is no decent forum anymore for video store operators. Fortunately I have been fortunate to belong to a group that communicates regulary and meets in person regularly.
