I am looking into opening an independent theater. I was wondering if it is a problem to get the big new releases as an independent. It would be the only theater in the area which has a population of about 40,000. That is why I really want to do first runs. Thank you in advance for your help.

The BIG ONES probably not. This time of year yes.

Lot around the forms some more for more info on this and talk to a booker or one of the members here who does their own booking.

Why is there not theater there already? How far out do youhave to go to get 40,000? 5 miles? 15 miles? 30 miles?

I agree with Mike, that seems like a good size area.

The 40,000 population is within a 20 mile radius, but there is no theater in a 50 mile radius. I do not know why there is no theater already, but people always comment on how there should be one closer. So for the 40,000 population I quoted, it would be the closest theater by at least 25 miles.

Okay, what is the population within 5 miles?
