We are looking to ad video games to our on screen projector during down times. Anyone doing this already and what kind of rental rates do you get?

I do it now and I charge $25/hr. It works out pretty well.

What types of licensing fees do you have to pay to rent out games? Who do you contact regarding such issues?

I do not rent out games, just the machine and the screen. Patrons bring in their own games.

Wow, what a great idea. Leeler, how often do you do this? How many screens do you have at your cinema and how many would be taken up with games when you decide to rent out the place as a game room? Do you make enough on $25 an hour to make it worth while being there? Are there any problems at all with "public" playing etc.. Ive never checked the copywrite for a video game.

It really hasn't taken off to a large extent. I make some money on it and pretty soon it'll be enough to pay for the machine.
But, it is good for birthday parties and more people come to the theater so I hope it helps bring more people to movies too.

Are your systems wireless? Have you ever held any tournaments? We have been asked about hosting a Halo2 tournaments.

my system is not wireless (I wish). Instead I have to run wires (2 audio & 1 S-video) from the unit up by the screen all the way back to to the projection booth which splits the audio to go into the audio rack and the video to go back out of the projection room and out to the ceiling mounted video projector. Running the wires is the hardest part, but I have it down to a science and it sounds worse then it is now.

Hello,

I am trying to find out who I can talk to about getting older movies to show to an audience. I am having a very hard time getting any information. Any help would be great.

just browing the FORUM, this topic caught my eye. It's been a year since this topic was discussed. What's the latest on renting the theatre to on-screen video game-players?
We have a birthday party package and it could use a boost.

this has been a positive for us. Our birthday packages increased and we are doing frequent "sleep-overs" with movies on one screen and gaming on the other.

Sleep overs?

You keep staff there all night while they sleep with a movie on the screen?

could they not do this at home with a tv in the bedroom?

or are you talking about something else?

Just seems like it would be kinda hard to cover expenses staffing an over night like that?

It's a kid's "sleep over" who's gonna sleep?
As far as staffing, we require the group provide a minimum of one adult (parent) to stay and once the doors lock the staffing is just the owner or myself. Depending on the size of the group we bring in a morning person to help with the breakfast buffet.

do you have a minimum # of partiers? How do you charge?
We say $200 for up to 20 (including host) for up to 3 hours. We charge $25 per 1/2 hour after 3 hours and $5/head for over 20. We rarely get even twenty...
