TOPIC: Theatre appearence!

Theatre appearence! 25 Jan 2007 12:08 #25286

How many of you agree that posters are not the only thing that give theatres a exellent appeareance? Smell, dust and spots have a lot to do with it as well!

I prefer no spots or dust or bad smells at my theatre.

Well, I don't know...
Since most all indoor theatres look the same, some dust, spots and maybe an odour or two can provide the customer with a sense of identity.

I guess it depends on what the smell is?

THe smell of fresh popcorn is a HUGE plus!

it lingers in the subconcious and tells the patrons to come back for more!

on the other hand, the smell of old pop spills not cleaned up, mixed with others or the smell of unclean restrooms would be somewhat less effective at bringing MOST people back for more!

Dust? Hey isn't that why we keep the house lights dim? (Kidding)

as for spots, the only spots we have are Loganberry stains on the floor in the Aud. that won't come off, or salt stains on the carpet people track in from outside.

Well if you are in the mess I am in, then smell=BAD. Seems no one ever cleaned this theater so now I have to pull all of the carpet, curtains, and seats out of the place.

I had to do the same thing, juise, when I reopened three years ago. The roof leaked so the whole thing smelled musty and the seats were literally sixty years old and falling apart. The curtains were moldy and all of the carpeting reeked. I had to gut the whole thing and start over fresh. It wasn't fun but it really made the difference and let people know that we were very different from the folks that used to own this place. Good luck.

Having been in my current theatre for 10 years, I'm used to that certain "fragrance" that every older theatre gets. Can't wait for my new place to open this summer. Fresh carpet and paint smell.

Believe it or not, the most important rooms to keep smelling fresh and clean are your restrooms. A dirty toilet will turn customers away every time. (It's a given that the booth and its equipment must be spotless.)

Where can you get used curtains from?
