Has anyone had any experience trying to set up and run a store front for selling gift certificates through their web site? I'm thinking of using Pay Pal for payment since they charge by transaction. We take mail and e mail orders now, but have to have the money in our hands before order goes out, so I'm thinking it would be a good service to offer.

Sounds like a good idea as most of the folks who buy or sell on Ebay already use PayPal, which will probably increase your sales substantially!...

Mike: You have a good looking site! How long have you been selling gift certificates this way? Does it work pretty well for you? What kind of problems do you have, if any? Thanks for any other help you can give Linda

We've been selling gift certificates this way since we started in January 2003.

We have had no problems with this system yet.

Yeah but do you actually check each serial number and what if they just make serial numbers up?

They don't actually get the gift certicates online. They order them, pay for them by credit card or paypal and we mail the actual gift certificate to them. So there is no more chance of counterfiets than if they purchased them at the theater.

Ditto what Linda said ... there's no way to stop absolutely everything!

Also, if you're using the mag cards, your RTS system records nothing on them that indicates their value... so there's no way a counterfeiter could "add" money to a card.
