TOPIC: Starting a Movie Theater

Starting a Movie Theater 18 Jul 2005 09:52 #24889

My wife and I have been thinking about opening a movie theater in our town of approx. 8,000 people.
The problem is we do not know where to start.
We have great ideas and the drive to accomplish them, but need some direction or assistance on where to begin.

Currently our town does not have any movie theaters, the closes one is approx. 20 mins. away.

I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback given.
If possible detailed information works best.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi, Wanting...

Most here will tell you that the best way to start is to take an evening or two and really search through discussion boards like this one.

The question you've asked is a common one, and you'll find many of the basic answers you're looking for have already been asked... and answered.

After that, you'll probably have questions that are more specific to what you're looking at... and that's the time to post 'em here.

Good luck!

Get a cup of coffee, a comfy chair, and try these, for instance:

Good luck, and don't get discouraged...

Wanting,

When you first enter a forum, such as Frequently Asked Questions at BSB you'll notice a drop-down menu with options to display topics in which the last message was posted within various periods of time. To see older topics, just select a longer time period and click the GO button to reveal them.

In the Frequently Asked Questions at BSB forum you should choose "Show all topics."

Thank you all for your quick responses.
I am new to discussion boards so I apologize.
Prior to listing my question I was able to look through previous forums and gather some useful information.
My concern was that looking at the dates of the discussions the information was old and outdated.
Unless I was incorrectly searching it looks as though the discussions were a year or more old.
I have taken what I feel to be useful informtion from those discussion boards, but need more.
Again I am new to this and do apologize.
I do appreciate any and all assistance.
Thanks again in advance.

Good advice is usually "timeless". Unless it is a fast-changing and unpredictable thing like digital cinema, good business/technical advice on theatres is usually consistent. "Film Done Right" and "Showmanship" don't change.
