I have a second run family oriented theatre. My patrons are sometimes referred to as the "lost audience". And it seems like all it takes is a bit of media frenzy for them to get lost.

Here in Central Pennsylvania we had no electical problems of any sort. However my thursday evening business dropped by 55% as compared to the prior Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday evenings(Weekdays in the summer my business is usually very consistent).

After 9/11 I could not give tickets away for nearly two months. For the 4 weeks after we invaded Iraq my business dropped 25% to 30%.

Gee Whiz I could use a break!

hmmmm. we were fairly busy on thursday night. possibly because of the high temps and very high humidity levels in the area. but, ditto on the iraq and 9-11 situation. funny thing is, the movies playing at that time were geared towards teenagers, who never really watch the news. same thing goes for packer games, these kids don't watch them, but business always drops when they are aired on the tube. go figure.
