How is everyone doing for attendance so far? I know that in my area tourism is well below normal which affects me. I am down about 14%. How are you doing?

Lance - our theaters are down from 3% to 12%. If you look up national statistics on www.entdata.com you will see the industry is down 5% from last year.

My first quarter was down, but I more than made it up in the second quarter and am up 9% total through the end of June compared to last year. This quarter is looking pretty good also.

After crunching the numbers for the year so far I find the following. Box office gross is up 6%. Admissions are up 2.5%. The reason for the difference between the two percentages is a price increase that went into effect on June 13th. On the other hand concession sales are down 5%, which represents a per capita drop of 10 cents.

The bottom line is that cash flow has increased by about 2%.

However, if you look at the figures only since the June 13th price increase, compared to that same period last year, gross is down 9.5%, and admissions are down 7.8% which once again seems to prove what I have always said... that every time you raise prices you chase people away. The only reason I ever raise prices is to appease the distributors so that I can get film product on a timely basis.

To be fair though, last year I had Milo during that period which was my biggest summer picture, and I won't be playing Finding Nemo until the 29th (I hope), which should do even bigger. The difference of what that picture did and what I did with the Hulk the same week this year would have put me slightly ahead this year.
