TOPIC: Average monthly utilities?

Average monthly utilities? 24 Jun 2003 21:16 #24021

Ok,

what is your average monthly utilities.(all combined.)

And another question. If you were needing a median price of admissions for figuring income for financial part of a business plan what formula do you use.

I took the average of the matinee price and the evening price. But someone pointed out that matinee will end up being a larger % than average that I computed.

maybe y'all could post your utilities costs and list how many screens those costs cover-would be helpful.

wouldn't it be better to take a week's worth of ticket sales reciepts divided by number of tickets sold that week. do that for representative weeks thru out the year then go for an average. be sure to include good and average weeks. you would want to cover at least 15 weeks, i would think.

We have a 5-screen complex in Sunny California. We run about $3k in the winter and $5k to as high as $7k in the summer. Airconditioning is expensive.

Average admission prices:

Single screen: $3.75 matinee, $5.50 evening.
Ran mostly kids movies so prices average heavily toward matinee: $3.98 average ticket. Hence evening prices kicked in only .23.

4 screen: $4.00 matinee, $6.00 evening. Average ticket: 4.65.

Utilities vary tremendously not only from one part of the country to another but also from building to building depending on type of construction and whether you are insulated by other buildings from direct contact with outside air on all 4 sides. I don't yet have a full year of data on my new 4 plex, but my utility bills are much cheaper than I anticipated in the original budget based on my single screen and another 8 plex that I had numbers for. Basically, it costs about the same to heat 4,000 sq ft as it does to heat 13,200 square feet. Sounds impossible but the 13,200 sq feet is at the center of a shopping center and is not exposed to the weather on 2 sides. My single was all exposed on all sides. I am still figuring out the a/c bills but they aren't yet over my electric bills on the single screen with an ancient ice machine working hard.
