I recently read two articles about movie theaters. One was about thaters that were closing and the other about theaters that were being built. In the first article titled Screen Savers they talked about theaters that faced closure but were salvaged and some cases reopened or converted. My heart sank as I turned the page and saw the picture of the grand Michigan Theater in Detroit that has now been converted into a parking garage.
In the second article they talked about building a theater and shopping center in Georgia on the site that was once a garbage dump.
Somehow it just doesn't sound right to me. How they can turn such a grand building in Detroit into a parking garage and then go and do a real healthy thing like build another one on the site of a former garbage dump.
Well, it keeps me guessing.
