Barco just demonstrated a laser projector that produced amazing light on a large screen. While laser technology is progressing, and there are some significant advantages over Xenon, they remain very expensive and are still facing regulation issues due to past history of eye damage in laser light shows, although that is supposedly not an issue in theatre projectors. Still, it seems that lasers are the future.
