TOPIC: Unknown front shutter projector

Unknown front shutter projector 17 May 2011 23:18 #36089

Anyone know of this front shutter projector? I photocopied this at a library from one of their books. It's using a carbon arc lamp & is sitting on what appears to be an RCA? soundhead.

I think this is one of the old flux capacitor DMC-12 models made by Strong, but I could be mistaken.
They were around in the early days of exhibition and made a mini-comeback around 1985.
The shutter spun at 88 MPH and was quite a site to see.

I don't have time or in the mood to deal with jokers like you. I'm also not in the mood or have time for reply posts like that.

Seriously go to film-tech.com for that question. That is where you will get your answers.

Did a post get deleted or something? I'm not following why you are mad.

Yet, you seem to be in the mood as you took the time to reply.
No one had posted, what's the harm in having a little fun?
Lighten up.

A pretty funny joke that movie geeks should get.

I don't know if "movie geeks" get it but perhaps "techno-geeks" do. I've been in and around this business most of my life and I don't get it at all.

Bob,
that was probably one of the movies you boycotted due to the low morals displayed. A young man travelling back in time to get his unmarried parents to make out? Scandalous!

I have to admit that I had to reread it before I got it. Pretty funny actually....

Haha, clever Elin. I admit I didn't really think about it. Good grief, Matthew, if you got the reference you should have been the first one laughing. Now the whole discussion is derailed. :(

From mathewbailey08's parents-written with his permission
"Mathew is 38 & autistic. He wants this subject back on topic & underailed. I also ask whoever made him upset with a joke like that & whoever is taking sides with this person against him like that to apologize & immediately cease & desist against talking to him undeservedly like that. He cannot get onto the Film-Tech forums or any where else on Film-Tech because he was wrongfully banned from there.
Thank you Jon Bailey, mother of Mathew"

As we said years ago in college, "I'm calling shenanigans."

My younger brother is a high-functioning autistic and I'm familiar with the condition. mathewbailey08 didn't exhibit any of these characteristics. He recognized the humor/sarcasm and became mad. A tell-tale sign in virtually every autistic is the inability to recognize this type of humor. He did. A truly autistic person would have simply thought this was the truth and accepted it because they wouldn't have recognized the humor.

More likely, this was mathewbailey himself posting in an attempt to make us feel bad.

"Cease & Desist" - seriously? This is a forum, we have some fun, etc. If mathewbailey08 is autistic, then I'd suggest that as his parents you discuss with him that it was a joke, that this type of thing happens on public internet forums, and that it wasn't intended as anything harmful. Instead, you come here and yell at us for a fun-spirited Back to the Future post. If he's 38, it's time to be a parent instead of blaming all of us.

Cease and desist sounds a little strong. Honestly, sorry about the tone, but this is the internet and I don't think anyone here was being too harsh. Good luck finding info about that projector.
