Schoaps OFFLINE Fresh Boarder Posts: 8 Karma: 0	Does anyone know anyone who repairs DTS units? I have a DTS 6AD and DTS no longer services them. I am getting a motor boating sound in the left channel and have narrowed it down to the DTS unit. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

dsschoenborn OFFLINE Platinum Boarder Posts: 718 Thank you received: 6 Karma: 1	That unit is so old and out dated you would be much better with a used 6D. My tech told me not to buy any 6AD units when I was looking to add some more DTS. I have been happy with the used 6D units I have purchased.

I've had a couple of DTS 6D units here for about 7 years. I've had one drive and one power supply go out. Otherwise, any problems I've had have been in the reader. I check the LED levels at the beginning of each season. Past that, there have been a few occasions where one reader or the other wouldn't pick up the time code without tweaking "the screw that voids your warranty".

Frankly, taking that label off and adjusting that screw is the only thing that's prevented me from sending in an otherwise good reader.

Overall, the DTS system has worked as well as my Dolby Digital setup, so long as I actually get (or otherwise acquire) the darned disks.

Gordon McLeod OFFLINE Gold Boarder Posts: 266 Karma: 0	I guess the question is is it optical or dts and nonsync as well as that will narrow down which board has a problem The 6ad we have been predominently trouble free But with all electronics many of the chips in them are no longer available ( same reason Dolby doesn't service anything older than the CP500)

retriever2 OFFLINE Fresh Boarder Posts: 1 Karma: 0	We have used a company called Computer Spirit recommended by Datasat Digital. They do repair work on the older DTS units, i.e. 6 & 8D's. Their number is 1-805-373-5107. Philip at ext. 103 should be able to help you.
