The DTS sound in the last reel of Transformers sounds weird, kind of like a mild warble and higher pitched. Last night I was listening for it and switched out of DTS to Dolby surround. It seemed to correct the problem. I have never encountered a bad disk, but is it even possible to have a disk error? I have requested a new disk.

We have a double skip were they say the word twice on our DTS.

I've never heard of such a thing, but I suppose anything is possible.

I'm running mine in SRD right now, but it'll eventually go into a DTS screen.

If you don't get your replacement disk, let me know. I'll send you a copy of mine.

They sent replacement disks and put them inside one of the ICE AGE cans. It was smashed to smitherines and the disk I needed was cracked. Playing the movie in SRD. It sounds good.

Nothing wrong with SRD. Didn't know you had that, too.

Sofar, that's all we've played ours in. My back two screens are DTS. Guess I'll find out when I move the show back there.

To update:

It wasn't a bad dts disk. It happened with Harry Potter, also. I did some asking around and checked with American Cinema Equipment. The guy there asked if I had a Christie platter and when I said yes, he said there was too much drag on the film and to remove, clean and lightly oil all the rollers on the platter and in the brains (including under the springs). Seemed like a simple solution, but it seems to have worked. I played G I Joe tonight and there is no warble.

I have cleaned and lightly oiled the rollers in the past, but guess I need to do it more frequently.

So, if you have a Christie Platter and you hear a warble in dts, you might try this easy fix. I'll update again after we play a movie with more music and fewer explosions and other loud sound effects. But so far, so good.
