Has anyone ever heard (or seen) of a projector pedestal that allows the operator to reposition the projector horizontally to adjust for different optical centers? EG., when running 1.33 silent films it's technically necessary -- though not generally done -- to slightly adjust the projector and use an aperture plate ground correctly for 1.33.

I'm sure I heard once about a pedestal that allowed the projectionist to mark the various offsets on a horizontal guide. This allowed the change of the optical center by simply turning a screw gear.

Any ideas?

Simplex (Super) and Century both made adjustable bases. Older dealers may have some sitting around. You should be able to pick a pair for next to nothing. Check with ICECO in Miami or American Cinema in Portland, OR.

Just a heads up... though you may have already heard from "them"... The operator of "that other film-related forum" has a real problem with cross-posting. I ran afoul of his rule, after posting some minor subject on both forums. Got stomped on pretty hard, even though I'd been over there for some time. He has a tendency to deal with most issues by threatening an outright ban on you, so a careful reading of his rule page might be wise.

Just a caution... been there!

Heh, I'll remember that. I'm not sure why that's an issue. Yes, there is likely some member overlap, but there are also member populations that only participate in one or the other forum.
