I broke my finger today when I was heaving a film can into my car. It was a fluke type thing, but one I think everyone here should be cognizant of. The four-reel can had one of those combo locks locked onto the handle.

As I was heaving the can into the back of my SUV, my ring finger somehow got caught on that lock while in motion, and snapped my finger. A few expletives later I looked at my throbbing finger and it was bent at the distal joint and would not straighten out.

It is in a splint now and is turning purple.

I hope it feels better soon, Donna. I know that kind of injury can be very painful. Thanks for sharing a difficult lesson learned with the rest of us.

It wouldn't hurt to slip rings, necklaces, and other jewelry off and into a pocket or purse when handling heavy objects or working around moving machinery, like projectors and platters. And always watch your fingers and toes. This I also know from experience. Even steel-toed boots don't protect your instep and ankle.

That would not have happened if you had digital cinema.
