Sorry for the post, but I am lost. A friend of mine has bought an old cinema and all the projectors are still in it. I need a group where I can post some details of the things to either sell or find more information on. I've been doing some googling, and know that the machines are Gaumont Kalee President's. I've also discovered I have around 200 reels, some with film on them, and a Duosonic sound like machine.

The building is structurally unsafe and it is not economically viable to make it into another cinema. I have lots of photos, but I haven’t any ideas on the value (if any) of the machines. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ben

I need an electric rewind, but not one of the old enclosed ones. I could also use some nice interior poster cases and (everyone don't laugh) an Automaticket machine.

You might just list the items on ebay either individually or in groups of like items. Or, you could just contact a couple cinema suppliers in your area to see how many pennies on the dollar they will give your friend for the lot.

Someone will pop up here with info on your projectors. I have never heard of them.

Be careful of the film on those reels if they are really old. Nitrate film burns fast.

Burney if you weren't so darn far away I could fulfill all your equipment needs. I have the automaticket machine that was installed here and the one we used in our single screen. We will also have two rewind tables not to mention everything else in a matter of a few months.

I think it is all enclosed. Any way to tell what type the film is, or would it just be nitrate?

Along the edges most of the time, it will say Nitrate. How long has this cinema been closed? Mostly all films after the mid 50's will be of safety stock type film.

If those old prints are unique, contact a film archive before discarding them. If they are nitrate, get them into cool and dry storage in a building that is NOT occupied, until their value can be determined.

Nitrate prints usually do have a "NITRATE" edgeprint. But carefully burning a frame of film out of doors can verify the very fast burning rate of nitrate film compared to triacetate or modern polyester safety film.

Beckwith, Too bad I don't have the time to take a roadtrip! Just don't get rid of them. I know someone else looking for an Automaticket machine.
