Thanks to all of you who have contributed to this forum.

I just signed a lease to re-open a theatre in Mid-Missouri. I have been dealing with a couple of different equipment vendors.

One of the equipment suggestions concerns me: Will the Altec a7-500s and the Electrvoice Surrounds TS82s do well with DTS? I do not have DTS as yet but I plan on adding it now or soon.

So will these speakers handle the demands of DTS sound?

That's a matter of the size of your auditorium. Dolby or DTS shouldn't matter. A couple of drive-in speakers could put out proper levels in a closet, but would hardly be appropriate in a larger room.

Discuss this with your equipment supplier. If you can't get informed answers, post the question (along with room dimensions) here, or on the other popular boards. There are people on either, or both, who know how to calculate the wattage you'll need and what amplifiers and speakers can handle the power.

The physical makeup of your auditorium can have a bearing on the kind of horns the right speaker system should have... especially if you're stadium or have a balcony.

The dimensions: theatre #1 approx. 32' by 85' seats appro. 250 in regular old fashioned seets, theatre #2 approx. 34 by 85' with 300 seats.

Walls are made of concrete block with old burlap on them.

Those E-V surround speakers are excellent and work wonderfully for digital sound.

The Altecs would need to be upgraded to digital specs in order to be useful with digital sound.

since it is the A7 500 get one of the higher power drivers for it and it will work fine just remeber that the low end is about 120Hz so make surre that your sub can reach up to there
also I would biamp the system so that there is better transition at the crossover point
