How much room does this sucker take on a platter? I am getting it next week and hope I'm not forced into an intermission (not that it would be such a bad thing). My two hour movie I'm currently showing (something's gotta give) takes up all but about 6 inches worth of platter. Hmmm, my high school geometry should be able to figure this out.....nope.

With four trailers it will fit on a standard platter and you'll have about three inches to spare.

What is "standard" for a platter?

Mine is about four feet across and it has a 13" ring.

hmmm, it sounds like mine is smaller then usual then and the ROTK might not fit. Looks like I may have to have an intermission after all. We'll see.

Strong/Potts platters were also made in 48" and 42" deck versions on special order.

well, the intermission was a great success. I added an extra $1.00 to my per caps and got lots of good comments. The trick was finding the right spot to make the break. I did lots of rewinding the film by hand to find the correct frame to splice. But, all-in-all, I think it was worth it.

There are "compact" platters that I believe are under 48". Standards handle the ROTK.

Running an intermission because you HAVE to (mini-platter) is one thing, but I recall that Peter Jackson and Newline insisted that US showings of "LOTR-ROTK" be shown without an arbitrary intermission.

BTW, 2-1/2 hours is about my limit, and even then I tend to limit the fluid intake. So an intermission certainly will help per-caps.
