Boy, that's too expensive!
That price would make me stay home and wait for it to hit second run.

We're going to have this conversation for the rest of our lives.

Next week tickets at the Rialto Cinemas Lakeside will go to $9 & $6 and that is still a bargain for out of the house entertainment.

If I were in NYC and wanted to see a movie, I would pony up the $12.50.

I'll pay $15, I'll pay $20 but with one caviot, The place had better be spectacular and the presentation flawless.

I'm in Telluride right now and I paid $4.50 for a coffee and a muffin and trust me, I didn't get the entertainment value out of that.

Last night I took a pretty girl to dinner and it cost $60 and I didn't even sleep with her.

So AMC is looking for a way to reduce attendance?

I wonder what 2 hours of entertainment elsewhere in the same area would cost? And I wonder if what they got for that price cost the manufacturer $100 million? I doubt it! In our town, you can't do ANYTHING for 2 hours for the cost of a movie (matinee here is $4, evening is $6.50 for adults). Hell, darts at the bar cost $1 a game, and that only lasts 10 minutes! That comes out to $12 for 2 hours, plus drinks!

Well, you could spend the evening at a Yankees game for as little as $8, and that's about 3 hours of entertainment.

That ticket price must be coming soon. Because the ticket price at the AMC's Empire is still $10.00. I live a few blocks away from that theatre. I walked in to the lobby yesterday and saw no new price on the boards.
The high ticket price in the city is still $10.00. In Los Angeles they have two theatres that charges around $14.00 a ticket.
The ArcLight in Hollywood (Cinerama Dome) and the Bridge Theatre on the Westside of LA.
They run bargain matinees till 6pm and have student prices also.

I got a parking ticket last week here and it was 5.00. In NYC, last time I was stupid enough to get one it was 80.00. I keep an apartment near my Houlton theatre for 225.00 heat and elec included. I know a gal in NY who felt ecstatic to find a studio for less than 2000. NY is a little more expensive than Belfast. NY, NY: it's a Hell of a town!

Yes, NYC is expensive. I pay $1,787 a month for my one bedroom apartment in mid-town Manhattan. That's with electric & heating included, but I'm also only two blocks away from work. The cheapest movie theatre in the city is the Loew's State in the basement of the Virgin MegaStore in Times Square. It only $4.95, All times and All seats. Going to a Broadway show will cost you anywhere from $80-$110. Going to McDonalds for a Big Mac value meal will cost you $7.00 (thats the
medium size). A glass of Bud in most pubs will cost $3-3.50.

The theatre I work for (a Regal 10-plex that used to be Hoyts) is also rasing admission to 7.50 from 5.00. I live in a smaller area and the people arent going to be too happy. Hoyts tried that a year or two back and admissions dropped big time. So I am waiting to see what happens when this price change goes in effect.

I don't think I could pay that much to see a movie. It would limit the films I would go to see. I enjoy the movies very much and seeing them in the movie house is the only way to see some films. It's a shame that they feel that they have to charge that much. Once the prices go over $10.00, my budget says no, even though my want says yes. I think there are many in the same boat. Think how much it would cost for a family to go a movie at those prices!!!

Of course, at a Yankee game you are sitting in the bleachers, 450+ feet from home plate, and watching the game with 58,000 other people for your $8. If I could get 58,000 people in one theater, I would lower my prices, too!!

(ps - if you want to get close the action at Yankee stadium, it'll cost you $80)
