TOPIC: Blue prints

Blue prints 28 Dec 2001 20:49 #21135

Our theatre here recieved "Kate & Leopold" and the print had a bit of a blue tint. When the actual film was projected, it was blueish!

What is this?

It could be they "color timed" the print to be on the cool (bluish) side. Or your screen light could have much higher than the correct 5400 Kelvin color temperature specified by SMPTE 196M.

Thanks Mr. Pytlak!

I'll suggest that to Nick. Would this mean that the theatre needs a new copy?

If the entire print was deliberately color timed "bluish", that is the way they want it to look.

A lab error in color balance would usually affect only one reel. If one reel is really off in color, ask the distributor if it can be replaced.

This was reels 1 & 3. I think someone did call for a replacement.

Thanks for your help.
