O.K. Time to get serious about stopping cell phones in the theater.
1. Each staff member will wear a button that says"Please tun off cell phone"
2. Each door to the cinemas will have a sign posted saying No Cell Phones
3. Theater info line will stress no cell phones in the theaters
4. Website will urge cell phones to be turned off.
5. We will start evicting those that answer their phone in the theater.

Will any of this help? What did we forget?

I run a Policy Trailer that clearly states cell phones and pagers are to be shut OFF. it is posted in the box office window.

Yet there are nites it looks like we have firefly's with damn blue lites flashing all over the place...

I for one hope NATO does get the bill passed to make it law. and allow us to use jammers legally...

We do tell people to shut them off OR go outside but for every one person we catch 10 go un noticed...

I was happy one nite, I forget what movie was on, but a quiet part was up, and this phone rang and the person answered it, a man like 2 rows behind him said LOUDLY, "TURN IT OFF NOW" and boy did that phone shut off fast!

a few people even clapped!

tony.

Are there any new studio cell phone trailers available? I see Cingular runs one at Cinemark, but it was made for Cinemark, I guess, as it has their logo on it. Are there any others that just address cell phones?

We have our manager make an announcement before our 7pm and 9pm shows on Friday and Saturday night reminding customers to turn off cell phones. We have policy trailers as well, but nothing has been as effective as a real live authority figure telling them directly. We've also returned flashlights to our ushers. I know the flashlights are irritating as well, but after several weeks of this they are rarely having to use them anymore. We are a small town with mostly repeat customers, so the word is out we have zero tolerance on cell phones and loud talking. We also have large signs on our auditorium doors to remind them to turn em off.

Cingular had a generic one on the Regal theatre I was at the other day.
You should contact the major cell companies and see if they have anything to help the situation.
You are advertising for them by playing them.

I introduced a film festival on Friday night. This is the keynote welcomeing speech. Two rows in front of me a teeny just kept yapping. People are clueless.

Pike Productions makes makes a nifty policy trailer that includes the cell phone bit. You can check it out on line.
