I'm reading a lot of negitive things about LAST SAMURAI. I liked the film and thought it was well done. Yes, I agree that Tom Cruise maybe dominated the film, but wasn't that what you would expect? That it takes from DANCES WITH WOLVES and BRAVEHEART is not a bad thing, those films are great masterpieces. I think sometimes we look too hard and are little too critical. It's doing well here and that's good enough for me.

I saw LAST SAMURAI on opening weekend and I thought that it definitely mirrored some scenes in BRAVEHEART and DANCES WITH WOLVES but that both Tom Cruise and his captor did a very good job. I know that people tend to let their petty jealousy (Tom Cruise looks better than most forty-year olds) take over. Tom may have a more limited range than some actors but he is using it all in this film. I thought it was a much better film than the trailers made it look...
