To quote the old Sam Cooke tune "Another Saturday Night and I ain't got nobody". And tonight this Saturday should set a new record low here in Central Pennsylvania.
The heavy rains all day Friday forced the postponement of most local high school football games until this Saturday afternoon or evening. Central Pennsylvania is (of course) rabid Penn State football territory and tonight Penn State (sold out) plays Ohio State. And for the first time that I can recall they are having a World Series game on Saturday night.
From my point of view the biggest impact from DVDs and other media outlets provide has been the loss of the movie theatre as a 'first choice' destination. Movie theatres are now a default .... such that if there is anything else going on that takes precedence the 'anything else' is the first choice. The public understands that if they miss a film in the theatres there are plenty of chances to see it later on.
