Film Daters are little strips of film that you insert between trailers to tell the audience when the film opens. You show the trailer followed by Opens Friday. Or when films used to open whenever you could have a dater sat Opens Wednesday. The dater can have your theatre logo on it. This was back befor the day when all films opened everywhere on the same day and the studios started puting the dates on the trailers. Now of course they are frequently wrong.
