Transformers all the way. It will reach teens and tweens. Broader audiance. Trailers are getting better reactions then The Rat!

I saw a big screen extended trailer of Transformer at the ebay conmvention in Boston (product placement) and it looked great. I called up Para and chose it over Ratty and now I am choking a bit. We have it at one and Ratty at the other.

Mike, was it rated? I have yet to see anything with a rating for Transformers.

I was ecstatic to see F4 rated PG. I finally got to take my son to a superhero movie- and it was great! More PG's please Hollywood! (I know, the MPAA rates movies, but producers know what bumps it up to PG-13).

Since we are a 2 and a 3 screen we have accepted a deal: Ratty into Harry. Opening Trans on the 6th as we have Evan on the other screen. I feel good. And please do me a favor: don't call up BV and say Mike Hurley blah-blah-blah. Using information provide here should be done a little discretely if we want to keep the comm channels open.

The projectionist for the screening room here said he really liked Transformers. So lets hope it does what we all expect. We were able to book all the next big 3 movies so we are happy. We could do this partly because what we have has all been dying quickly.

We'll find out the winner this weekend when they go head to head for the first time. My money is on Transformers to take the weekend. Both pictures will do monster grosses, and I don't think anyone will be disappointed. I'm just glad I have room to play them both! Die Hard 4 isn't doing too badly, either.

How can you compare these two when a movie typically drops 35% or much more during its second week?

Transformers should outperform Rat just because it is newer.

Easy answer. Just compare the first weekend of Transformers against the first weekend of Ratatouille.

Rick,

That point I can agree to. Your post made it sound like your were interested in seeing the head to head battle this weekend.

We have Transformers on Screen 1 and the Rat on Screen 2 at our drive-in. If the week nights numbers are any indication... this wekeend will be huge.

We typically draw between 30-45 cars on any given mid-week night in the summer. Monday night was 60+ cars, Tuesday was well over 200 cars, Wednesday the 4th was over 60+ and last night was another 85 cars.

We too are dropping Rat on Tuesday night in order to bring in Harry Potter on the 11th.

Rick C. - good to see you posting! Saw the write-up about you in the Lockport Journal - great article.
