Even when you are present when people who rent the building are there you have to keep a close eye on them. I had one person who thought that just because they rented the building they could do what they wanted to.

Dance schools start at around $100 an hour. This includes me to help them run the stage equipment. If they need additional employees for lighting or sound then that is an hourly rate of $10 or $15 per additional person an hour. This rental is based on a slow night day. So for us a Sunday or weeknight. the price is adjusted based on how much work we at the theatre must put into the event. Also rental groups must provide an insurance rider for liability for us.

Security for rentals.
1. Lay out the rules in advance
2. be there and have other there depending on size to watch. I have one person on stage and one in the lobby to watch especiall during practices. Performances the staff is in the lobby anyway and I normally run the stage.
3. Get payment if full the day of the show!

Other Live Events I produce or co produce for the most part so I am involded from day one and on the event. It only my people running things and there are not a lot of performers on stage. Most vaudeville shows do not mean a lot of people on stage. Normally I have 4 acts of vaudeville plus a silent film or organist. All come prepared do their act and leave so there is no real problem with security.

We do not do bands! They only produce headaches.
We have done church revivals and travel shows.
I seam to do about one movie showing a year for local film makers. These are the easiest one. Put in the DVD and your done in 30 or 45 minutes. I normally put them in around my regular show times so there is no additional expense in opening the building or staff.
