Fear Not, Mikey, you're going to do OK with this... JC is due for a boomer, and the hoopla is already going strong... The opening is probably not the best time, but it should have legs, and there really isn't anything else like it to compete with...

outaframe: What is JC?

I hope Lemminy does well and I'm sure it will do decently. We had several people comment on the posters in our lobby, which is generally a good thing. Also, you can't do too bad with Jim Carrey (at least most of the time).

One question though, what should we put on our marquee for that movie? We only have room for about 15 letters and I'm not sure what would work on the marquee where people would know what the movie is called. Any suggestions of possible words that could be used?

If Lemony does well, and I think it will, it could be another Harry Potter. As you know there are what, about seven Potter Books? Lemony comes in with a whopping twelve volumes. We could be booking it for a looong time!

I understand that the sequel was filmed at the same time as the first one and is already in the can.

I've noticed that the movie industry refers to it as Lemony Snicket however, the general public knows it as Unfortunate Events. Check the size type on your poster carefully and you will find that Unfortunate Events is in bigger letters than the rest of the title: Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I believe that Paramount is steering us to use Unfortunate Events. BTW - Lemony Snicket is just the author/narrator not a character in the story. Also, the books are quite short and don't have a lot of action so the movie is based on the first 3 books.

Unfortunate Events is a great series of books! Will be 13 books in all with #11 recently released. Entertaining and a bit quirkily and covertly educational (the way Lemony Snicket explains idiomatic phrases and big words so that a child can understand...and use them correctly!). This release will be the stories from the first three books and I cannot think of a better actor to play the Evil Uncle, Count Olaf, than Jim Carey. As far as the books go, the diguises and antics Olaf employs in his attempts to gain control over the Baudelair fortune are as fun and hilarious on one level as the antics in the Mask but as sinister and dark as the undertones of the Cable Guy on another level. JC fits perfectly with my imagining of Olaf. If they have stayed true to the spirit of the books this one should appeal to ALL ages and as said earlier "have legs." Please post back here to let us know how it went for all you guys. I'm trying to get a feel for what "works" before I get my operation up and going this summer.
