Which would you pick if you had to choose one? Meet the Fockers or Flight of the Phoenix?

Meet The Fockers looks like a $110 million picture to me. Flight Of The Phoenix under $40 million

Fockers, even thought I don't like saying the name.

I saw the original version of Phoenix in atheatre back in 1966. The original ran nearly 2 1/2 hours. While I liked the concept of the movie, it was the longest 2 1/2 hours I have ever spent in my life. To this day the original Phoenix holds the record for the most times looked at my watch during a movie.

I well remember the 1966 original too, and would put it on my best 100 list... The original storyline and great cast made it especially fascinating for me (I liked the technical details of how the plane was re-assembled and the interaction of the diverse backgrounds of the characters)... I can't imagine a better actor for the pilot's role than Jimmy Stewart, and I have serious doubts that today's lamebrained audiences will appreciate the storyline, but when National Treasure outdraws Spongebob, perhaps there still is a place for something besides the animated no-brainer...

I don't like the title either but we think that we will have to book Meet the Fockers. I'm thinking about advertising it as Meet the Parents 2 as I don't think that many people make the connection. No one has mentioned the Universal requirement to put money down in advance which they will cash on Monday 12/27. Haven't heard those terms yet? We have to put our entire film rental for Along Came Polly on the line. Would love to do Flight of the Phoenix but the starpower is not there and the audiences are not reacting to the poster and trailers.

My patrons have given the Flight poster and trailer very positive feedback and very little has been said about the Fockers. But, I will still play Meet the Fockers before I play Flight of the Phoenix.

Thank god I am in Pennsylvania where state law prohibits any advances or guarantees. That what comes from having a strong local theatres owners association and state lobby. The law has never prevented anyone from getting product either.

Beckwith you might want to argue that point with Universal. Why do they require money of you but they can't with Pennsylvania owners.

No advance/guarantee here. We haven't had to pay an advance on ANYTHING since our first year of business.

We don't pay advances any more either but I've been told that Universal has a sales drive ending on Mon. Dec. 27th so they are trying to get as much Meet the Fockers money in as possible. Those division managers need to get their bonuses you know!
