De-Lovely...

I didn't book it, my boss booked it, and when I questioned him (he said he booked "The Lovely") what he had booked, as I could not find a film by that name, he told me how good this film is doing etc..

I informed him that it had not yet hit 12 mill, and after 7 weeks! and was he sure we wanted to play this?

well, guess we are... small SMALL town single screen.

Has anyone else played this?

After reading the reviews I worry we will have people walking out due to it's content!

tony.

I sure wouldn't play this... The 1920's setting and artsy theme would only appeal to an older audience, and the gay undercurrent will offend that same (conservative) audience, so all that leaves is a liberal yuppie audience to support it, and they are in short supply around here, and not regular movie goers... Even my regular college crowd would not be interested because of the 1920's setting...

I've had sensational response from seniors on this flick. Played in a costal resort town and was the biggest thing I've ever had...and the oldsters make up the bulk of our audience. Rarely run anything more than one week, and De-Lovely ran three.

If you have a big senior audience, give it a chance. They come for the music.

Regular small towns...fuhgeddaboutit.

Cellular
Wicker Park
De-Lovely (2nd week)
Bourney Supremacy/The Notebook (week 3 for this pair)

De-Lovely works very well with the senior population. We haven't had any complaints about the content. You might want to find out where they can buy the soundtrack locally as they will be asking you. About 1/2 of the audience sits through the entire credits just listening to the music. They don't move when the credits start to roll so allow extra cleaning time. Oh yeah, it was our #1 film last week although that is not saying much with the current crop of wonderfilm out there. So good luck to those of you who have it booked this week. May you be pleasantly surprised!
