I am a college student writing a business plan for a movie theater. I know movie rights are determined on theater sales, but can anyone give me an estimate as to how much your average cost is per month for movie rights. Our theater will have 5 screens in it. Thanks for your help!!

The formula shifts, based mainly on where you are (in the country), regional economies, local competition, and how well your theatre does with hold-overs.

Generally speaking (very)... figure half of your boxoffice and concession income to go to your suppliers. If you're a major chain theatre, change the concession figure to .00015 going to suppliers!

You get to run everything else off of the other half.

If you're building a sub-run theatre, your admission percentages will be lower.
