The Maine AG forced the sale of a Rockland, Maine downtown theatre that had been bought by a mini plex chain for the purpose of killing off the competition. It was 1 mile out on the miracle mile side of town. I thought they did this all the time but n00000000000! The theatre had been closed for 2 years while announcements were made that "new owners were coming" but the ag forced the issue. Today it was announced that a buyer (and a real one) was going to renovate the thing to ots' original glory.

Mike,

You are a sharp tool.

Competition will hone that edge.

Rockland is still 20-miles away.

Is the Strand twin? At one time I had requested info on that theater. They told me it was sold. What a shame we could have helped each other out and not work against each other. We could have cross promoted each other and schedule different flicks to add to the enjoyment and give more variety of surrounding towns.
Oh well hope the new owners are small town oriented and look out for the needs of the townspeople!
Let me know if they fail and it goes back on the market?

The new owner is quite well off. He is ceo of a commercial bank that lends money only to large companies like Haliburton. They made 18 loans over 350 mill in the last years and 6 over 1 bill. The theatre is across from the museum he's on the board of and looks like a total rehab is coming.

The interesting part of this is I have never heard of a AG going after anyone anywhere for anti trust.
