I heard on the radio that The Watcher grossed 5.3 milion to be the box office champ this weekend and that it was the lowest grossing weekend in 3 years! This was like going to the doctor to be told you've got some lousy disease. "I knew I felt bad!"

Just when you see the light at the end of the tunnel it's probably Ishtar!

Later Fall looks good.

How's your season going?

My grosses have actually been pretty good, but I am about three weeks behind in movies and after next week, I have no idea what I will play. I just might have to break down and play some of that raunch that was released this summer that I swore I would not play. I am playing "The Replacements" this weekend, "The Watcher" next and "Bring It On" the following. Then???? I have called about "Nurse Betty" but they can't give me a date. I loved that movie by the way.

I know the feeling.

Next week I'm going to play "Scary Movie" after having sworn that I would never stoop that low. Amazing how a small checkbook balance can influnence bookings! Last week (the weekend that wasn't)I was playing X-Men, and it was terrible. How can a movie that opened that big first run, do that terrible 2nd run? This week I'm playing "What Lies Beneath" and doing nicely, but several of my booking accounts that are also playing it are only doing fair. Go figure.

In regards to my stooping so low to playing Scary Movie", I have just finished making all my newspaper ads, and have used about 50% of the space in each ad to let people know that NO one under 17 will get in this theatre to see it! I've used such lines as: A Hilarious ADULT Comedy, but NOT for Kids!
Under 17 requires ACCOMPANYING PARENT!
Ages 17 thru 22 MUST have PHOTO ID!

Do you think they will get the point? I've probably just succeeded in scaring off most of the business that the picture would have done.

Oh well...time will tell.

I was talking to a friend at Paramount today and I said "So what gives??" and he said "I think this whole movie thing is over!" Then we both started laughing! Just hold on.
